On the 1st and 2nd of December is held in Athens the cick-off meeting of the European Programme NIREAS.
The EU countries, and specifically the South and Eastern countries while they consider Water and Waste-water resources management (WRM) a very important aspect of their environmental policies, have neither specific curricula and
practical oriented materials in their education systems regarding the professional profile (operator of water treatment plants) nor a specific map of competencies.
The project aims to contribute to the improvement of education and training in the field by offering complete and quality educational contents and a tool that will help the accreditation of competencies.
The main target group are the operators of the Water Treatment Plants.
Generic Objectives: To ensure that the WRM sector workforce acquires the necessary skills and knowledge for their job development, to contribute to the development of digital contents and to involve the final users and other stakeholders into the process of eLearning contents development and delivery in order to reach transparent and portable skills certification and employment.
Specific Objectives: To create a multi stakeholder network to find out successful approach for the e-learning content delivery in WRM, to supply learning contents according to the mismatches, shortages, gaps in skills discovered just-in-time, to develop original and innovative e-learning content, to run the pilot courses in each country, track the learning progress of WRM workers involved in the project and increase their job performance and to contribute to the recognition of non-formal and informal learning and foment transparency and transferability of skills in the WRM sector in the EU.
General Description of the Outcomes: Study on the Training Needs of the Waste-water Treatment Plant operators, Website, innovative E-Learning Modules , Accreditation for learners in the WRM sector, Pilot Actions, Dissemination, Final Conference.
Impact: The e-learning contents and the accreditation of competencies will facilitate the development and transparency of skills of the WRM workforce, fact which will allow the employment of better qualified people and, thus, it will improve management strategies of water resources and help sustainable water use.
